In reply to Frank OConnor. There is water at "Laulima Farm Fruit Stand", towards the end of the gravel section on the south side. They also sell fruits and coffee.

Just completed this ride. Staff at Kihei shop were very helpful. Bike was great. Ride was fantastic. Highly recommend.

This is a bucket list climb for me… I will hopefully see you all in 2025. I will bring my shoes and pedals to hawaii and rent a bike from you all to climb Haleakala!

Are there any useful places to grab (emergency) drinking water on the most isolated stretch of the back side? I’m usually great about water budgeting, but it’s a bit of a mystery.

The other day I learned that Conor (author of this post) has the fastest recorded time for the ride up to Haleakala from sea level–something like barely more than 2.5 hours. Wow! For most of us mere mortals that would be a brisk time on flat ground. My hat is off to you, good sir.

My husband and I did this in 1996 and it was wonderful. It was misting or maybe we were in a cloud but we were not cold because they gave us raincoats. It was one of the best experiences! I loved it!
