Bringing your own bike?
Renting a bike?
We offer a fleet of rental bikes on Maui. Maui Sunriders is your destination for high-end road bikes, full suspensions, hardtails, e-bikes & beach cruisers. Our top-notch staff of cycling enthusiasts will be excited to help you find the right bike for your adventure (at any of our locations…Paia, Kihei, or Lahaina!).
How many guides will I have?
For 1-4 riders, we will provide 1 guide. For 5-8 riders, we will provide 2 guides.
This ratio holds true for our weekly scheduled tours, as well as our custom tours.
Is a bike in my size available to rent for my tour?
We have a full fleet of road rental bikes at each of our three store locations.
You can check the availability of road bikes in your size by following this link to our rental page, and going through the motions as if you were to rent a bike for the day of your tour.
If you are able to rent the bike, it means the bike is available!
Do guided tours have vehicle support?
Our regularly scheduled weekly tours DO NOT have vehicle support. While our guides will have basic repair kits and are well-versed in performing basic repairs, we hope you have some knowledge in this area, too!
For a private custom tour, in particular circumstances, we do have the capacity to provide a vehicle for support. This will incur an additional fee on top of the standard rate.
If you’d like to learn more about custom guided tours, or hiring a sag vehicle, please give us a call at 808-579-8970 or email us at email@example.com
How do I confirm my 10% savings on a rental bike?
Once you are booked on a guided tour, you will receive an email that has a code to be used when you book your rental bike.
Is there an age minimum for a guided road tour?
Yes. All guided road tour participants must be at least 14 years old.
What if it's windy or rainy?
We ride rain or shine! The weather on Maui is notorious for changing in the blink of an eye. If weather looks like it might become a factor, more often than not your guide will be able to suggest an alternate route. Maui has many microclimates; it might be raining on one side of the island, but bright and sunny on the other side!
If you opt out of the ride due to weather, there is no refund.
If we make the decision to cancel a ride due to weather, we will first look to reschedule for a another day. If you are unable to reschedule, we will refund 100% of the cost.
Do you provide hydration/nutrition?
All participants on a guided tour will receive the following:
– one 20oz Maui Sunriders branded water bottle
– single serving hydration mix
– single solid nutritional item
All our tours start at one of our bike shops – we have additional water and bike snacks available for purchase before heading out to ride.
Your guide will also let you know of opportunities to purchase food & water along your ride. Some routes have more frequent opportunities than others.
Do routes vary?
- Rider(s) ability level
- Rider(s) time constraints
- Rider(s) interests
This is not to say that riders dictate where you’ll go; rather, your guide will work with you to facilitate the best possible riding experience for you and your group.
Do you offer guided climbs of Haleakala?
The National Park Service does not allow commercially operated guided tours of any kind within the boundaries of Haleakala National Park. Unfortunately, that limits us for guided tours for the Haleakala climb specifically.
We offer a riding guide up to 7,000′ – the entrance to the National Park. You will be on your own for the rest of the climb to the summit, and the entire descent. From the National Park entrance, it’s 13 miles and 3,000′ to the summit. From the summit, it’s a 36-mile descent back to sea level.
For an additional cost, you can also hire a sag vehicle. The sag vehicle – like your ride guide – cannot enter the National Park.
If you’d like to talk through the details of booking a guided climb up to the National Park Entrance, please give us a call at 808-579-8970, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Do you offer guided tours of the East or West Maui Loops?
In short, yes. However, we only schedule these tours privately.
Both the East Maui Loop and West Maui Loop are more challenging and time intensive than our weekly offerings, and therefore should only be attempted by those who are confident spending hours in the saddle navigating tight, windy roads and steep grades. This is particularly true of the East Maui Loop.
For rides of this length, we also offer a sag vehicle for hire.
If you’d like to talk through the details of booking a guided tour of the East or West Maui Loops (or any other route not offered weekly), please give us a call at 808-579-8970 or email us at email@example.com
