Our team of passionate cyclists has curated a collection of Maui bike routes of varying challenge levels all over the island. Whether you’re looking to cruise around town, explore some of the great bike paths on Maui, or cycle up to the summit of Haleakala, we have a route for you!

Epic Maui Bike Routes
West Maui Loop (Advanced)
60 Miles / 4,400′ Elevation gain
Circumnavigate the Western Maui Mountains as you hug the coastline, soaking in sweeping views of the Pacific around almost every turn.
East Maui Loop (Expert)
106 Miles / 10,500′ Elevation Gain
One hundred and six miles, 10,000 feet of vertical gain, 617 hairpin turns, and 59 one-lane bridges make one full circumnavigation of Haleakala volcano.
Paia Bike Routes
Tour of Haiku (Beginner)
15 Miles / 1,300′ Elevation gain
A beginner road biking route along the Hana Highway, highlighted by a short climb into and through the jungle town of Haiku.
The Triangle from Paia (Beginner)
28 Miles / 700′ Elevation gain
Follow “The Triangle” roads through the center of Maui, taking mostly right turns (minimal traffic crossings!) starting and ending at Maui Sunriders Bike Shop in Paia.
Tour of Haiku (Intermediate)
30 Miles / 3,000′ Elevation Gain
Climb to Makawao before a scenic descent through Haiku, and an oceanside return to Paia.
Makawao Figure 8 (Advanced)
40 Miles / 4,500′ Elevation gain
Bike in a figure 8 loop, using the cowboy town of Makawao as your focal point. Start with a big climb, then enjoy a long scenic descent back down to sea level.
Paia Bike Path (Family)
8.5 miles / 120′ elevation gain (out and back)
Cruise the shoreline on a flat, paved bike path absent of motor vehicles. Fun for the whole family!
Kihei Bike Routes
La Perouse (Beginner)
22 Miles / 1,200′ Elevation Gain
A straightforward out and back bike route that takes you beachside from Kihei to La Perouse, the location of the youngest land on Maui.
Kihei to Paia (Beginner)
18 Miles / 300′ Elevation gain
Connect our two Maui Sunriders locations via a couple of the best bike paths on the island! A straightforward and flat bike route (although likely windy!).
La Perouse (Intermediate)
35 Miles / 1,800′ Elevation gain
Ride beachside from Kihei out to La Perouse, the youngest land on Maui. Take the long way back to our Kihei shop – can you hit all the pit stops we’ve pointed out on this route?
Iao Valley (Intermediate)
31 Miles / 1,300′ Elevation Gain
A 31-mile out and back cycling route from Kihei to the lush jungle mountains of Iao Valley, and back again.
